The Good. The Bad. The Ugly: Caught in a Storm

I love storms, but I don't like having to get out in them. Of course right when it is time to pick up the boys from school, the heavens opened up and down came a rain pour. I was ready just to let the boys stay the night at school. But I knew I would miss the little stinkers.

Not prepared for this storm, I only had flip flops to wear. No way could I run in those slippery things from the back door of the house, down the muddy path of puddles to the truck. Doubtful and not expecting a yes, I asked my dad if they had boots I could use. They did! Rain boots in fact. And a rain coat. I was ready to embark the storm. Out the door I went.

(Rain boots are not just for fashion)

Drenched and splattered in mud I made it to the truck. Off to town I go to pick up the boys. The closer I got to their school, the calmer the storm. Not so bad I thought to myself. I pick up the boys and start back to the house. I thought the worst of the storm was behind me. I was wrong. It began to pour even harder than before and hail, too. I couldn't see the road ahead of me. I had to slow down to 30 mph on a road meant for 70 mph.

As I traveled down the road, I was getting nervous and fear crept in. I could barley see ten feet in front of me. I wasn't sure if I would be able to see our dirt drive that leads to the house. It's was so hard to see I could easily miss it! While a line of cars continued on slowly, I watched as a car pulled over to wait out the storm. I questioned if I should do the same, but I didn't. I just kept driving.

Not a minute later it turned to a drizzle. When it was time to turn, I could see the dirt path that leads to the house. We pulled up and the storm had past and we were home. Safe and sound. We could see the beautiful rainbow. Praise The Lord!

I just love that! Dance in the rain. "Praise Him in the storm" is easier said than done. We are often not ready and caught off guard when storms of life come. The muddy puddles in our marriages, finances, jobs, whatever the puddle may be can get very messy. We can try to avoid them, but what good would that do? We can stop, but would we miss the rainbow? God gives us everything we need to embark the storms of life. Find a reason to dance with confidence knowing God controls the storms.

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. (Psalms 107:29 KJV)
