The Good. The Bad. The Ugly: She's Gone Country

Before I begin, if I post this blog that means I won the BATTLE!!! May the flies rest in peace...

Visiting my grandparents farm as a child, never would I have imagined then I would be raising four children on this same farm I chased grasshoppers, picked blackberries, climbed trees, picked veggies, cut paper dolls out of magazines, read books, drank tang, baked peanut butter cookies, sneaked sugar from the sugar bowl, picked switches (uh-oh), picked stickers out shoe laces, played endless hours with my sibilings and cousins.

It seems like yesterday I was sleeping on the sleeper couch in the living room, giggling with my sisters, windows opened, the crisp summer air blowing in, waking to the smell of bacon frying. Sitting on the front porch, each with a fly swatter in hand killing flies. A game we all loved to play. Tricking each other to touch the electric fence brought tears. I can still hear my Grandaddy singing, "Cry me a hand full," as he cupped his hands. So many memories fill my home. My kids have an opportunity to make these very same memories.

My day to day life has made a complete 180. City to country has been a HUGE change. I love being home. It's not as easy as you think, but so rewarding. I wake up and take my boys to school. I spend my day with my daughter making memories as I do my day to day chores. It's pretty repetitive. Feed the animals, clean the house, laundry, cook, grocery shopping, mow...who'd thought this girl would be mowing and enjoying it. Not me! But, I get it done.

Highlight of my day is when my hubby and kids return home and we are one as a family, hearing about their day, watching them chase grasshoppers as they shout for jars, watching them giggle and dirty up everything I spent all day cleaning, laughing and enjoying dinner around the table, sing and dancing during devotional, bath time and prayers, my family...I've gone country for my family!

Thank you, God, for always knowing best. I wouldn't have gone country without You!
