Last night, if you could have been a fly on one of our cows, you would have thought we were one of the chickens running around trying to get as much done as possible for today…OPENING DAY! Chaos for sure had filled the air and it could be summed up with one word...FEAR!
"Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The storms got us way off schedule, and left us with a BIG mess to clean up. Looking around, all I could see was everything that had not been done yet. Satan began to whisper lies…This is a joke! Do you seriously think people will want to come pick from your garden. Just look at the porch! It looks like Sanford and Son! You have a complete mess and people are going to be disappointed!!!
"Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it." - Judy Blume
This morning, I had to wake up and face my fears. After dropping the boys off at their sports camps, me and the two littles began to work on the farm. We laughed and giggled as we fed the animals God has blessed us with to care for. The littles helped me haul off more brush and limbs from the storm in their little red wagon, so I could finish mowing. They played in the dirt and found a roly-poly while I cleaned up the porch. It felt just like summer days on my grandparent's farm. I was surrounded by sunshine and smiles.
"I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance: to live so that which comes to me as a seed goes to the next as a blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." - Dawna Markova
What am I so afraid of? Failure. Not meeting the expectations of others. Being a disappointment. God spoke clearly over the lies...Child of mine, look at how much you have accomplished. And, I don't mean the farm. You have fought for your family. You have planted seeds that have blossomed into a fruitful relationship with me. You have found purpose. You are complete in me. That is ALL that matters!
AMEN! Is the work complete? No! But there is plenty of time to work. Today, I'm remembering the purpose of opening Lee Legacy Farm. It was never about picking vegetables. It's about leaving a Legacy of Love for Christ in the hearts of our family, friends, and community.
"The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid." Psalm 118:6
Life is short. Live, love, and enjoy. Don't let FEAR hold you back and rob you of the blessings God has for you!
