THE WAY WE SPEND OUR TIME DEFINES WHO WE ARE
Please tell me where did our summer go? Only three weeks until my kiddos start back to school. I've enjoyed our first official summer on the farm. Was it everything I dreamed it would be…of course! And so much more!
Although I've dreamed of summer nights on the farm, I've enjoyed even more summer days at the lake this summer. This past weekend we spent another weekend with my parents, my aunt, and my uncle (ham bone).
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this time with my aunt. It was almost as if my grandmother was in the other room spending time with my littles…my aunt's laughter, voice, and love filled the room with my grandmother's presence.
My grandmother has always had a love for sewing and sharing that love with others. As a child on the farm, I'd sit next to my grandmother in her recliner as she sewed quilt pieces. Eventually, I got to help her sew. This past weekend, I watched as my little boy sat next to my aunt as she worked on her quilt pieces. I would tell him to back up and give her some space, but she insisted he was fine.
{This boy and his hexie flower. He wants to take it everywhere!}
Here lately I've really began to miss family that I don't get to see as often. I remember as a child thinking…I'd never lose contact with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We will always be close. So many memories. Holiday dinners and birthday sleepovers. Now I see how far we have drifted and the different lives we live.
TIME SPENT WITH FAMILY IS WORTH EVERY SECOND
Now that we've moved I think…will there be a day my kids aren't close to their grandparents, aunts, and uncles…their cousins? I sure hope not. I pray I can be intentional in all my relationships. Always making QUALITY time for family.
