I have been in a funk the past two days. When my back hurts it just puts me in a mood that's not very pretty. It's actually pretty ugly. Just ask my husband. He laughs at me and forces me in bed early.
We are fixing to have some shower stories. Just remember what happens in the shower, stays in the shower!
When my husband got home last night, I took a shower while he heated me up some dinner. I looked at my hairy legs and then my rusted razor and was like oh forget it. I shook out the last bit of my $1 soap from HEB, washed, rinsed and got out quickly.
After dinner my youngest son decided he'd poop his pants. This did not make this momma very happy. I was already in a mood. I made the two younger boys go ahead and get in the shower to get it over with.
They decided they wanted to wash their hair on their own even though it's not 'wash your hair night'. This surprised me. My youngest doesn't like getting water on his face. Yet, he had a head full of hair half wet and full of soap that he now didn't want to rinse.
I tried filling the cup with water using the shower faucet but it was getting water everywhere. Now I'm yelling as I turn the shower off so I can just use the tub faucet. As I turn the water back on, the shower faucet sprayed my hair and shirt. The shower didn't turn off!!!
I'm pretty sure my husband laughed, but I didn't. I threw the cup down and walked out of the bathroom and hid in the laundry room for awhile and cried. Embarrassed of the scene I made moments before in the bathroom.
Well, today wasn't getting any better. I woke up to my husband cleaning up vomit off my baby girl. It was all in her hair. Back to the bath we go. I got her all cleaned up and put her back in bed.
My husband dropped the boys off at school and I laid back down for an hour or so. A shower didn't even cross my mind. Honestly, I just didn't have any desire. I used the last bit of my soap last night.
So I finally got my daughter up, we ate, and then we went to the livingroom to watch cartoons so I could continue to wallow in my funk...I know gross! If you're a mom, you have days like this. Right?
I just don't spend the time for me like I should. I'm busy folding laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner, helping with homework, ironing clothes, and the list goes on. Who's thinking about me? Not me. Even when I'm at the grocery store I put the needs of my family before mine. That's what we do. We sacrifice.
Well today I got a text from my dear friend. She asked if she could drop something by. I replied sure. You know you mean a lot to me when I let you drop by when I'm in my funk...ha!
I opened the door and she handed me a bag. She said she thought I could use it.
Boy was she ever right. She is either really tight with the Holy Spirit or she could smell my funk ten miles away.
God is so good. All I could do was ugly cry as I read the sweet card she had written me. This blessed me more than she could ever know. This momma showered me with so much love today!
Mommas, it's okay to be selfish sometimes. Pamper yourself today.
