It's Wednesday! It's time to get ROWDY with God's Kids! I'm looking forward to seeing what God is going to do tonight. Last Wednesday, was simply amazing. His spirit was present. I can't explain the joy that comes from joining kids in worship that are excited to worship and praise Him along with you. It got ROWDY! Afterwards, I realized I need to add some cardio to my daily routine…Haha!
Hang with me. I have a quick story for you before I share with you what's on the agenda for tonight...
So last night me and the two littles came inside early to take baths. They were covered in dirt from head to toe. I put them in the tub to soak while I hung up the last bit of laundry. When I opened my closet, this is what I found…
I quickly grabbed my phone to take a picture to share with my friends on Instagram. They simply love my mice photos :-) Snapping shots, I was interrupted with…Mom, sister is pooping in the tub! No!!! Why does she keep doing this!?! I evacuated the tub, cleaned it out, filled it back up with water, and put the kids back in to soak. My rule is…we don't get out until the nails are clean.
Real quick I was going to post a picture of the mouse, and that's when I saw it...
So distracted by the mouse, I didn't even see the snake that was slithering away until I looked back at the picture. I was standing right there by it! I began to freak out. Hubby was still not home yet and there was a snake on the loose. It gets worse! We never found the snake! It gives 1 Corinthians 5:7 "Walk by Faith" a whole new meaning.
Last night and even today, I have not been walking the same. I have my rubber boots on even though I'm in the house. AND, I checked them first thing this morning to make sure there was no snake in my boot. I'm on guard. Extra careful. Ready! That snake can appear at any moment.
The funny thing is…this is how Satan gets us. He distracts us so much that we don't even see the trial that is about to invade us. When it does, we pray and hold our Bible closer than ever. God delivers us. Lessons learned. Staying on guard. Being very careful. That's our goal! But what happens?
We forget. In time, I'm going to forget about that snake, and I'm not going to feel wearing rubber boots everywhere is no longer necessary. I will let my guard down. That's what Satan wants. He wants us to forget. For us to let down our guards. Stop praying. Stop reading God's Word. And that's when we fall back into his trap once again. Distracted!
God reminded me to keep my heart guarded. Even when things 'appear' calm. Continue to pray and read His Word. The storm is just around the corner.
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
Proverbs 4:23
So here's our ROWDY agenda for tonight…
1.) Pet Peeves. Don't be a space invader or a bump on a log. Let's get ROWDY!
2.) Worship Song One: Fruit of the Spirit
3.) Game One: Airplane Launch. You will need one piece of construction paper for each participant. On go, they will have one minute to make an airplane and launch it as far as they can. The pilot whose airplane launches the farthest, wins!
4.) Worship Song Two: Jesus is the River
5.) Game Two: Garbage Relay. You will need four grocery bags of garbage {empty boxes, water bottles, newspaper, and I even added a banana peel to give them a little gross factor}, a black heart with the word sin written on it to be hidden in each bag, one red heart, and one white heart with the word sin written in red. On the word go, participants will dig through their garbage bag to find the black heart. One rule. Garbage cannot fall out of bag or they are disqualified. The first participant to read the word, SIN, wins! I will show them the red heart when I explain the game. This will make it a little more challenging. They will be looking for a red heart instead of a black heart. Haha!
This game will prepare our hearts for our last song. I will explain that like this garbage, sin is GROSS. It separates us from God. This dark heart represents a heart in need. A heart that needs forgiveness. {putting red heart over the black heart} This red heart is the solution. Jesus died to be our Savior. {putting white heart over the red heart} If we choose, our heart can be made clean. Will we still sin? Yes! But the blood of Jesus will continue to cover those sins.
6.) Worship Song Three: My Savior My God
Be intentional when it comes to teaching kids to worship God!
